July marks the month Americans celebrate freedom. Independence Day. It’s filled with traditions from backyard BBQs to fireworks to summer holidays. That’s freedom. Freedom to decide, to choose, to have your traditions realized.
How’s that freedom feeling inside your home environment? Are you “at ease” with your lifestyle? Are you comfortable with how your home is laid out? How it feels? How it looks? How it smells? These sensory indicators shed a lot of light on how we create space, design our homes and how we feel about these decisions. If you’re reading this and thinking “My house is beautiful, everything is in its place, and we love how and where we live” then this month’s column may not be for you. However, if you know someone whose home appears out of control, sloppy, or unattended, well, that’s where A+ Clutter Clearing Services come in. We help direct the decision process to help the home owner REALIZE their freedom to modify the smell, feel and look of their home environment.
- Smell – AVOID those plug-in air “fresheners”. Why? They contain over 300 neurotoxins that are objectively bad for our health. Stop buying them and remove them as hazards to your health. Use a diffuser with essential oils, soybean or beeswax candles, incense, fresh flowers and plants and radiate health and well-being in your home. Or, boil up some cinnamon with water and fill your home with that yummy scent.
- Feel – The more you incorporate natural fibers, directional lighting, and smooth, clean surfaces, the more FREEDOM you will experience. Calm, serenity, tasteful and comfortable fabrics, pillows, and lighting ADD life force to your environment.
- Look – When you enter your home, what do you see? Where does your eye go? Check it out…are you emphasizing the architecture? Is the interior portal inviting? Is it light and airy and free from clutter? Do your best to FREE yourself from TMS* (too much stuff). The less you display on counter tops, shelves and media centers, the more feng shui and clear energy you’ll experience. Less IS more when it comes to home design and clutter clearing.
- TMS – A word about TMS* (too much stuff). Did you know that storage facilities are more popular now than ever?? That’s because we collect our parents’ heirlooms, antiques, our kids’ art work (even when the kids are now in their 30s) and everything else imaginable. These public storage facilities actually RAISE prices after a short intro window, and so we find ourselves TRAPPED not FREE with a monthly expense that makes no sense. Do your best. Clear the Clutter and reduce your dependency on storing stuff you don’t even use!
- Clear the Clutter – To find FREEDOM this July, practice LETTING GO. Clearing Clutter is a practice, not a “one and done” exercise. It’s more of a practice. When you ADD items to your wardrobe, for example, practice discarding or donating an older item. Otherwise clutter ensues. Look around and reduce or remove piles of old magazines (see bathroom reading choices!), reduce or remove old mail not even opened, old newspapers and even old emails. Take the first step and you’ll soon find your habits shifting in the right direction.
However you choose, find YOUR FREEDOM and let the clutter clearing process practice ensue. Enroll your partner, your children and learn to put things BACK IN THEIR PLACE after every use.
Wishing you the best of what summer offers and may your health be a priority as we strive for a quality of life like no other.
